Orofacial Pain Association of the Philippines Participates in the Pain Society of the Philippines 33rd Annual Convention
The Orofacial Pain Association of the Philippines (OPAP) proudly participated in the 33rd Annual Convention of the Pain Society of the Philippines (PSP), the Philippine Chapter of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), reaffirming its commitment to advancing education, collaboration, and excellence in pain management.
Representing OPAP as one of the convention speakers was Dr. Corinne J. Somera-Atienza, Vice President of the Orofacial Pain Association of the Philippines, who delivered a lecture on the Management of Acute Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD). Her presentation highlighted current evidence-based approaches to the diagnosis and management of acute TMD, emphasizing the importance of early intervention, appropriate patient assessment, and multidisciplinary care in improving patient outcomes.
The lecture was followed by an engaging and insightful question-and-answer session, fostering meaningful discussion among healthcare professionals from various disciplines. The exchange of perspectives underscored the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing the complex nature of pain conditions and in providing comprehensive patient-centered care.
Also featured in the gathering were OPAP delegates together with colleagues from Rehabilitation Medicine, reflecting the strong partnership between specialties involved in the management of pain disorders. Their presence highlighted the growing recognition that effective pain management requires a multidisciplinary approach, integrating expertise from dentistry, medicine, rehabilitation, and other allied health professions.
Through its participation in the convention, OPAP continues to strengthen its role in promoting awareness, education, and collaboration in the field of orofacial pain, while contributing to the broader mission of improving pain care for patients across the Philippines.
